Anthony Stevens is a UK-based, self-taught textile artist, who uses his art as a form of therapy and self-expression. It's all about expressing and processing life, past and present.

The works are strongly influenced by Nichiren Buddhism and chanting 'Nam Myoho Renge Kyo' Buddhism, and often the inspiration for the motifs comes while he sits and sings. Anthony has a strong intuitive feeling for whether these motifs he brings out are worth working on further.

The philosophy of "Nothing is wasted" is very important to the artist, and all the textiles are ones he has found, or has been given as gifts. By working with these materials, Stevens is forced to see the potential in what others have found useless or impossible to repair and have discarded.

This is in direct connection with how he strives to perceive his own life and experiences. As with life, it is sometimes a careful and frustrating process.

All the symbols in the works have special meanings for Stevens.
